NEC DSX Intramail Basics

Posted on

Adding a voice mail to your phone system can increase your employee productivity, make your company sound more professional and allow you to provide superior customer service. The voice mail/auto attendant for the NEC DSX telephone system is the Intramail.

The NEC DSX Intramail is both a voice mail and an auto-attendant. The Intramail is available in 4 or 8 ports. A port allows 1 person access to the voice mail, that person can be leaving a message, listening to a message or listening to the company greeting. The ports are grouped together so that if one of the ports is being used a caller will roll-over to the next available voice mail ports. The pilot number (like an extension number) of this group is is 700.

NEC has recently released a PRO version of the Intramail that will Email messages from your mailbox directly into your In-Box. Messages can then be listened to as a .WAV file over your PC speakers. This is a great feature that allows you to easily forward and distribute messages to other employees in the office.

To access the voice mail you can press your V-Mail button (which will take you into that extensions mailbox) or press Intercom 700 (which will prompt you for the mailbox you want to enter). If you are at another employee’s phone and want to access your mailbox you would press Intercom 700 and then dial in your extension number.

The Intramail has several special mailboxes that can be used for your company greetings, announcements or group mailboxes. A description of each can be found here.
