Build Your Own DSX-80 Telephone System

The NEC DSX-80 basic package is equipped to handle up to 16 NEC digital phones and up to 8 outside lines from the phone company.

You can increase the capability of the NEC DSX-80 by selecting an option for the expansion slot:

16 digital station ports - This will add a 16-port telephone card increasing the number of NEC DSX digital telephones that can be connected to the DSX-80 to 32 (the maximum in a DSX-80).

8 outside line ports This will add an 8-port line card increasing the number of outside lines (lines from the telephone company) by 8.

16 outside line ports - This will add a 16-port line card increasing the number of outside lines (lines from the telephone company) by 16.

8 analog ports - This will add an 8-port analog station card which will provide 8 analog extensions for connecting 3rd party cordless phones, credit card machines, Polycom conference phones, etc.

Adding the Intramail will allow each employee to have their own mailbox. The 4-port Intramail will allow 4 people to leave/check messages at one time and the 8-port will allow 8 people. The Intramail Pro will email messages from a mailbox to an email address as a .WAV file.
