Main Cabinet - The NEC DSX Phone System has several different cabinets, the DSX-40, DSX-80 and the DSX-160. The number after the DSX references the maximum ports that can connect to the cabinet. For example a DSX 80 can have any combination of analog station, digital stations or CO lines up to 80. The easiest way to tell which DSX phone system you have it to check the white label on the side.
ESIU Digital Station Card - The DSX ESIU station card provides 16 ports for connecting DSX 34B BL Display Tel, DSX 22B BL Display Tel, and the DSX 34B Super Display Tel. This card only works in the DSX-80 (2 max) and DSX-160 phone systems. One power supply is needed for every two 16 port digital station card.
COIU CO Line Card - The DSX COIU CO Line card provides port for connecting C.O. (Central Office) Lines from the phone company. Each COIU card provides either 8 or 16 line ports depending on the card model. 8 Port CIOU cards have 3 RJ45 connectors on the bottom while 16 CIOU cards have 5 RJ45 connectors.
SLIU Analog Station Card - The DSX SLIU station card provides 16 or 8 ports for connecting analog devices such as fax machines, cordless telephones and credit card machines to the DSX phone system. This card only works in the DSX-80 and DSX-160 phone systems.

Changing the Time And Date
To change the time and date from the operators extension (usually extension 301 on the NEC DSX) leave the handset down and press # 8 3 on the keypad. Enter the new time and press HOLD then enter the new date and press HOLD. Press SPK to return your NEC phone to normal operation.
